The Frustum is a thoughtfully redesigned Japanese teapot created to rediscover the simple pleasure and beauty of tea. While its clean, contemporary form feels at home in modern living spaces, its distinctive shape is kept as a classic Japanese design.
The defining edge that runs around the middle of the teapot draws inspiration from the traditional iron kettles (tetsubin) of Japan’s Tohoku region. The designers carefully revisited this historic form, experimenting with everything from the shape of the spout to the overall proportions to create a tea vessel that respects the past while offering a fresh, modern expression.
The result is a beautifully balanced piece that combines Japanese tradition, thoughtful functionality and contemporary design. The Frustum series was recognised with the prestigious Red Dot Design Award 2020, an international award celebrating outstanding design.

Care and Use
Teapot

Microwave: Suitable for gentle warming only. Always remove the metal handle and tea strainer before placing the teapot in the microwave.

Dishwasher: Suitable for household dishwashers.

Open flame: Not suitable.
- Avoid sudden changes in temperature or strong physical impact, as these may cause damage.
- Do not use metal scouring pads or abrasive cleaners, as they may scratch the porcelain surface.
- Due to the natural characteristics of the clay and glaze, each piece may vary slightly in size, shape, texture and appearance. These subtle differences are part of the individual beauty of porcelain.

Small iron specks, pinholes, fine cracks or crazing in the glaze may occasionally occur as part of the manufacturing process. These variations are characteristic of the material and are not necessarily defects.
- The maker's mark on the base may be partially less visible depending on the firing process.
Metal Handle
The metal handles are made in Tsubame-Sanjo, a region renowned for its metalworking craftsmanship.

Stainless steel: Silver in colour, with excellent resistance to rust and little change over time.

Brass: Soft, muted gold in colour. Its natural patina can be enjoyed over time, or polished with a suitable brass-care cream.

Copper-plated: Pink-gold in colour, developing subtle colour changes over time. Due to the nature of the plating process, some peeling of the copper plating may occur.
A dark mark known as a “metal mark” may appear where the metal handle rubs against the porcelain. This is a natural result of friction and does not affect use.
Attaching the Metal Handle
- The handle is intentionally slightly narrow when first supplied.
- Hold both ends of the handle with both hands and gently widen it before attaching.
- Insert the handle from either the front or back for easier installation.
- If the handle feels loose after attaching, remove it, gently widen the handle by hand and reattach it.
- Do not widen the handle excessively, as this may cause the attachment points on the porcelain to crack.
- The areas where the handle attaches are delicate and can be damaged if handled roughly.
- Never force the handle into position. Attach it gently and carefully.
